DIY Chalk Art Mug Rack- Land of the Free // Time to get your craft on!

I bought this mug rack at Marshalls a few years ago in the clearance section. I spray painted it with black chalk paint and have been using for different holidays ever since. One of the best crafting purchase I have made in a long time! Worth ever penny for sure!

Come with me as I make this 4th of July Mug Rack!

1. First I got all my supplies together. I have used this transfer many times, so it has already been cut of the larger retired transfer. This is just a small part of it. I also grabbed my Squeegees- small and mini, Chalk pastes in lots of different colors, stir sticks and masking tape.

2. I fuzzed my transfer so it wasn't too sticky.

3. Now I placed my transfer down. I pressed down to make sure it was adhered well.

4. I placed some masking tape on top to ensure I didn't accidentally get chalk paste off the transfer.

5. I grabbed my Bright White Chalk Paste and I used my stir stick to grab some paste out the jar. Then I grabbed my small squeegee and started spreading the chalk paste all over the transfer.

6.  Time to remove the transfer and wash it up. It's best to wash your transfer right after you use it and not let it sit with paste for a long time.

7. Onto the next transfer- A Star transfer. This is from a retired transfer, but there is the current transfer that has stars on them called the 1776 Patriotic Stars. I used Ocean Mist Chalk Paste for this star. I will stay that this chalk paste was a little chunky, but it works just the same.

8. I am using the same star transfer without washing it first. Did you know you can do that?!? Yes you can! This saves a lot of time. On this star I used 3 different paste colors in Ocean Mist, Bright White and Candy Apple. I used the the-dye method. I just placed small amounts of each paste color all over the transfer and then used my small squeegee to mix it all around. When you remove the transfer, it creates this fun the-dye look! I really enjoy using this technique a lot.

9. Now onto the next 2 stars. First I am going to use a different star transfer on the left in Candy Apple. It's kind of hidden but you will see it at the end. Once again, I am going to reuse the same transfer I just used. This time I am going to use a retired paste called Shimmer Splash. It's one of my favorite Chalk Paste colors ever! I Even though the transfer still has red on the transfer... that's ok! And as you can see in the last picture, there is no red residue!

10. Now these smaller stars are made with a current transfer called Land of the Free. This transfer may look a little different since it is a new type of transfer. Same easy way to use, but more see-through to easily to layer and I would say easier to clean too! First I used the Bright White Chalk Paste, and the I used Candy Apple, retired Shimmer Splash and Shimmer Gold Chalk Paste on the smaller star. Once again, I just reused the same small star with the different colors. Once done, clean up your transfers with water and a Board Eraser. Then dry upside down. Once dry, place backing back on and store to use again later!

11.  Now that it's all done, I hung it back up and hung some of my 4th of July Rae Dunn Mugs.

Dive into DIY with Club Couture™! Featuring a beloved quote from the great writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson, this Transfer celebrates living in the moment. Your shipment this month includes the Live in Sunshine Transfer and Couture Teal, Guava, and Shimmer Harvest Chalkology® Paste Singles.

Ready to start this months creation? Follow along!

Your shipment this month includes the Live in the Sunshine Club Couture Transfer and Chalkology® Paste Singles: Couture Teal, Guava, and Shimmer Harvest.

Supplies Included

Club Couture Chalk Transfer® design: Live in The Sunshine
Chalkology® Paste Singles: Couture Teal, Guava, and Shimmer Harvest

Additional Supplies Needed

Surface: Door Tag (9" × 12")
Tools: Color Trays, Fuzzing Cloth, Mini Squeegee

Color and Placement Suggestions

Couture Teal: “swim”, “the wild air”, lines
Guava: “in the sunshine”, lines, “drink”, “Ralph Waldo Emerson”
Shimmer Harvest: “live”, “the sea”, lines

Follow these instructions to complete this project:

1. Remove your Transfer from its packaging and carefully peel off the Transfer Backer Sheet.

2. “Fuzz” the Transfer by gently pressing onto a Fuzzing Cloth and carefully pulling it upward. This will make the Transfer easier to remove from the surface after you’ve applied the paste.

3. Center the Live in The Sunshine Transfer on the surface, and smooth it out to ensure it has properly adhered and that there are no bubbles or wrinkles.

4.Knead your Chalkology Paste Singles. Cut open the corner of each packet and squeeze the desired amount of paste onto a Color Tray, using a new tray for each color.

5. Use your Mini Squeegee to apply color over your Transfer (see “Color and Placement Suggestions”). Scrape away excess paste as evenly as possible. The more excess paste you remove, the better the result will be.

6. For best results, divide your project into two sections and use the chalk-and-pull method. Chalk the top section of the design and peel back only that portion of the Transfer to let the paste dry on the surface before continuing. To prevent any stretching in the Transfer, peel from the center or from both corners.

7. Gently lay the Transfer back down over the chalked section. Ensure that the next section is fully adhered, and repeat the above steps as you work your way down the Transfer.

8. Once your design is fully chalked and before the paste dries, remove your Transfer from the surface and immediately clean the Transfer with cool water (do not let it soak).

9. Dry the Transfer flat with the sticky side up. Once completely dry, reapply the Transfer Backer Sheet and store flat.

10. Show off your splashing new project!

DIY Octopus Chalk Art // Create your own Home Decor! //Come Chalk with Me!

If you know me, you know I love everything ocean! The ocean is my happy place and I love to be at the beach, listening to the waves and feel that ocean mist on my skin. My dream house would be at the ocean. But since I don't live in my dream beach house, I guess I'll just have to add a beachy feel to my home decor.

I created this Octopus Chalk Art with a retired Transfer, 4 different blue chalk pastes and a found surface from Marshalls that is a great size for large transfers.

Live Deeply Collection Octopus Chalk Transfer | Chalking With Jessica

This transfer has been on my to do list for a long time, so I was excited to finally use it. I've wanted to put it on a throw pillow for some time, but while putting our normal home decor back out, I saw the perfect surface. I had used this large surface for my Valentines Mantel. But it was time change the mantel, so what better time to create the Octopus!

Want to see how I made it? Follow along!

Supplies Needed:
Large Magnetic Chalkboard from Marshalls
Transfer: Octopus- Live Deeply Collection (retired)

Step 1
Grab all your supplies that you will need. This makes it so much easier so you don't have to get up while chalking. I didn't use the trays since I have the jars of each chalk paste. Always stir your paste colors before you use them. If they feel a little dry, add a little bit of distilled water to it and stir well.

Step 2
I was reusing a surface, so I had to clean in off. I started by spraying the chalked part with distilled water from the Fine Mist Sprayer from Chalk Couture. I let it sit for a few minutes and then I take a Board Eraser to really clean it off. After the board is clean, I wipe it dry with a lint free cloth. Now my surface is ready to be used.

Step 3
Time to Fuzz Fuzz FUZZ! These newer transfers seem really sticky so fuzz it well so it doesn't stick too much to the surface. Since this is a large transfer, I have found that it is easier to turn it upside down, then take the backer off. This way is less likely to stick itself to any part of the transfer. Then I just fuzz it upside-down.

Step 4
Once it's all fuzzed, I carefully flip it over and lay it into position of where I want it. Make sure its completely flat.

Step 5
With this project, I wanted it to have 4 different blues that blended well together. I used Ocean Mist, Lakeshore, Colonial Blue and Shimmer Splash. I used the Small Squeegee for all since I was blending them together. I used 4 Paste Stir Sticks to give then a good stir before I used them. Have your pastes close to you for easy use.

Step 6
Start with the 1st paste and take out small amounts with the stir sticks and randomly place them all over the transfer. Continue with the rest of the pastes until you feel that there is enough. Do this fast so the paste doesn't start to dry out. Once you have them all placed around the transfer, grab your Small Squeegee and start to spread the paste around. There is no rhyme or reason, so have fun while mixing and spreading the paste around.

Step 7
I noticed that I had a lot of extra paste left over so I placed it into a Color Tray to use on another project. This makes for a unique fun color that is like no other.

Step 8
Once you have removed the excess paste, now you can carefully peel the transfer off.

Step 9
Clean your transfer right away. This will ensure more uses. To clean larger transfers, I clean them in the shower. Make sure the wall is clean and place the dirty transfer on there. Use the shower head to clean with cold water. Grab your board eraser and clean both sides. Once clean, hang or lay sticky side up until dry. Once dry, apply backer and store away.

Now enjoy your creation!
