DIY Beach House Pillow- Make your own pillow!

If I could live by the beach, I would move in a heart beat. But here I am, Stuck in Lodi (see what I did there ;) ). So instead of moving to the beach, I just made a pillow that claims my house as a BEACH HOUSE. I'll have to take that for now.

So here's my step to step guide on this super easy pillow cover I made!

Supplies:
-Pillow Cover 16 x 16 - I used one from Hobby Lobby
-Transfer of choice (I used Sand, Sea & Sun - C181112- Discontinued)
-Chalk Couture Ink (I used Tide)
- Heat Press
- Parchment Paper

Step 1- Heat press you pillow to get any major wrinkles out. That just makes it so much easier to work with.

Step 2- Prep your pillow case by inserting something inside so it doesn't bleed through to the other side. I normally use an old Silhouette Mat that has a little stickiness left. But this time it didn't fit inside, so I used a Dollar Tree Plastic Cutting Board! I know... kinda genius! It was the perfect fit and I laid the Silhouette mat on the bottom so it stayed it place.

Step 3- Cut the Beach House transfer away from the Sun, Sand & Sea part of the Transfer. Thats what I love about Chalk Couture Transfers! That one transfers has 2 separate transfers on it. Plus- you can utilize them in same many ways, the possibilities are endless!

Step 4- Cut the Beach House Transfer in Half. You are going to want to do this so you can Ink them at the same time. I made it so much easier than trying to maneuver the large transfer around.

Step 5- Place your transfers onto your pillow cover in whatever design you want. With pillow covers, I never fuzz a new transfer when using it on a pillow cover. It needs the max amount of stickiness to keep the ink from bleeding under the transfer.

Step 6- I like to use Washi tape around the edges of the transfer. It just give me a little more room to work with since Ink isn't forgiving.

Step 7- Open Ink color up (I used Tide) and give it a good stir. Get all the way around the side and mix it up well!

Step 8- Take you small spatula and transfer some ink onto the top section of each transfer. Don't worry if you put too much! You can put it back into the ink container!
Step 9- Take your large handled squeegee and pull the ink down to the bottle on the transfer. Make sure the the ink covers all the mesh area, and make sure the ink is evenly distributed on the mesh area. Make sure to put excess ink back into the ink container. You can use it again!

Step 10- Once you are done with the Ink, Lift off the wash tape very carefully and them lift off the transfer. Don't pull it diagonal, make sure you pull it from side to side or top to bottom. Pulling it diagonal could stretch the transfer.

Step 11- Rinse and clean your transfer ASAP. If you like your transfers pretty, make sure you clean then. I actually bought the plastic thin cutting boards to put the transfer on to clean them. It makes it sooo easy and you are not touching the sticky side. But i'll do another Blog post on that soon.

Step 12- Let your pillow cover sit for 24 hours to dry. YES- 24 hours! I know- it seems like a long time, but you don't want all your work to be wasted on tacky wet ink.

Step 13- After the 24 hour drying period, take out the mat from the inside and the back silhouette mat and place them aside. Warm up your heat press and tear off a sheet of parchment paper. Place parchment paper on the ink design and heat press the whole design at 300 degrees for 60 seconds. If you have to move the heat press around to get it all, than do it! This is going to seal your ink! Now it is permanent!

And Voila! You have a custom made pillow for your very own "Beach House"!

Don't want a beach house vibe, but more of a Farmhouse vibe? I've got the cutest transfers for you!

Life is Better at the Beach Tablet Stand // Easy DIY Home Decor // Come chalk with me!

Want an easy to DIY that's easy to make and easy to change? Well you have found it! The Tablet Stand has been a game changer to add to my Decorated 3 Tiered tray. It's easy to chalk on, cleans off easy so you are ready to change it for the next holiday.

I've had my eye on a transfer and when I decided to redo my 3 Tiered Tray with my Beach stuff, I knew the Life is Better at the Beach Transfer was perfect! I use this in the kitchen while cooking. I just place my tablet in it to keep my recipes available but out of the way.

Want to see how I made it? Follow along!

Supplies Needed:
Tablet Stand from Hobby Hobby
Life is Better at the Beach Transfer (retired)

Step 1
Get all your supplies together. Open the Couture Teal Chalk Paste  and Tide Chalk Paste and stir it well using a Stir Stick.

Step 2
Fuzz the transfer usin the Fuzzing Cloth. Don't be afraid to fuzz it alot. If it seems really sticky, it might need quite a few fuzzings. Since the new transfers seem to be stickier, fuzz fuzz FUZZ! You don't want that to pull up the back ground up when removing the transfer.

Step 3
Press the transfer onto the surface firmly and grab the Stir Stick and apply the Couture Teal Chalk Paste onto the top of the transfer. Take the small squeegee and glide the Paste all over the transfer covering all mesh areas until you hit the last word -Beach. Only chalk with Couture Teal Chalk Paste on the top part of the word. Now take your Tide Chalk Paste and start from the bottom of the word Beach, but leave a small amount in the middle. There should be a line in between the 2 colors that has no paste. Then you are going to take your finger and combine the two colors. I like to use the motion of going up and down all the way across. you don't want to go side to side as it will not make the best ombre effect. Once fully chalked, pull the transfer from the top to bottom holding both ends, making sure to not stretch the transfer. Now since these new transfers seem to be more stickier that the older one, evenly pulling the transfer is important.

Step 4
Clean your transfer right away. This will ensure more uses. To clean larger transfers, I clean them in the shower. Make sure the wall is clean and place the dirty transfer on there. Use the shower head to clean with cold water. Grab your board eraser and clean both sides. Once clean, hang or lay sticky side up until dry. Once dry, apply backer and store away.

Now enjoy your creation!
How cute is my Beachy 3 Tiered Tray?

DIY Easy Peasy Beach sign - make your own Home Decor in Minutes! // Come Chalk with Me!

I needed a smaller beachy sign for my 3 Tiered Tray, and I knew I could make one. But I didn't want to go buy anything, so I started searching around the house. I went outside to look through the scrap wood pile and found a perfect small. I sanded it just a tad, and then painted it white.

After it was dry, I sanded the top and edges to give it a vintage vibe. Then I grab the Beach Vibes Transfer (retired), Shimmer Splash Chalk Paste, a Small Squeegee and a stir stick

Here's the Beach Vibes Transfer (Retired) That I used

Beach Vibes Chalk Transfer | Chalking With Jessica

I only used the top portion of the transfer that says "beach". Once cut, I laid the transfer on the block in the middle and pressed to make sure it was adhered.

I opened the Shimmer Splash Chalk Paste and gave it a good stir with a Stir Stick. I normally add a spray or two of distilled water to make sure its not too dry. I have noticed that most of the shimmer pastes stay well. They don't get many clumps at all.

Once the paste is stirred up well, I take out a small amount with the Stir Stick and put it in the transfer.

Then I take my Small Squeegee and spread the paste all over the mesh areas.

Once completed covered in paste. Lift up the transfer from the wood and wash immediately. This will keep your transfers sticky and you can use it many times!

Look how easy that was! Just imagine what you could make for your home.

My Beachy 3 Tiered Tray with all of my favorite beach items! // Plus create custom Home Decor // Come Chalk with Me!

If you know me, you know I love the ocean. So my home has a lot of ocean vibes and colors. I love to create my beachy ocean 3 tiered tray! With all of the holidays, I don't feel that it gets enough time up since 4th of July is so close. I may just have to put it back up after the 4th!

Come see how I styled my Beachy 3 Tiered Tray!

Want to check out last years Beach 3 Tiered Tray?

Top Tier
One if my favorite Rae Dunn Mugs is my Vitamin Sea Mug! That's why it's on the top! I placed 2 star fish inside on the top. Next to the mug is a tea light candle holder in a muted ocean blue color. I bought a set of these a long time ago and love to use them whenever I can. Then I used the Ocean colored wood bead garland that I made last year.

Middle Tier
This tier holds another one of my favorite Rae Dunn Mugs - Beach Please. I actually bought Beach Please and Vitamin Sea as a set from Poshmark for too much money, butI knew I would never find them in Lodi. Next to the mug is another blue candle holder that has a vintage mercury feel. Ive also had this handle holder for a long time and have used it so many times. Front and center is a painted and distressed wooden white whale that my mom bought me. We used it in my youngest sons nursery. The wooden bead garland continues throughout this tier as well.

Bottom Tier
I found this adorable blue Rae Dunn short Paradise candle a few weeks ago in Marshalls. I love the color and felt that it would go perfect with my Beachy Decor. On the other side is another Rae Dunn Mug - Create your own Sunshine. Who doesn't need a little sunshine... make sure to create your own and share! From and center is a sign I made from scraps and Chalk Couture products. Come check out the blog post on how I made it HERE! In the back is the matching vintage looking candle holder from the middle tier. To finish it off, I brought the wooden beaded garland all the way across and hanging off the side.

Left Side
I've had this small framed picture with a print from Katie Daisy inside for a long time. I love to use it around the house since it is so pretty.

Right Side
I have used this Tablet Stand so many times and love changing it up for each change up of the 3 Tiered Tray. This time I created the Tablet Stand with the Life is better at the Beach Transfer. I loved making this with the ombre technique. To see how I made this, Click Here to read all about it!
