DIY Tye Dye Valentines Kitchen Tea Towels // Come craft with me!

Valentines Day is almost here and I needed some Valentines Towels. So I decided to make them! Who doesn't love a good craft? These are really easy to make and can be a great family craft.

Fun fact: According to Wikipedia, Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentineis celebrated annually on February 14. It originated as a Christian feast day honoring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine and, through later folk traditions, has become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.

Supplies needed:

-Tea Towels
-Dye in all the colors that you want to use
-Rubber bands
-Pyrex glass pans

Step 1: Get all your supplies together. I already had most of my supplies on hand, so all I had to buy was the tea towels.

Step 2: Put rubber bands around the tea towels. There are so many ways you can do this to create different designs. I did mine a few different ways.

Step 3: Wet you towels until the are soaked through. Ring out any excess water. You want them wet but not soaking.

Step 4: Time to Dye! I mixed my dyes into small bottles for easy use. Squirt the dye in all the spots that you want. You could have a pattern or make it random. Do it how ever you want! There is no wrong way to do this.

Step 5: Once you are done adding the dyes, cover and set aside. I normally let them sit for at least 12 hours.

Step 6: Time to rinse. I always rinse in cold water. I place a cookie cooling sheet in my sink so the tea towel doesn't sit directly in the sink. I didn't use gloves to rise, but if you are going to be moving with your hands, you might want to. I rise and turn over and rise more until there is no color rinsing from it any more. Remove the rubber band and set aside.

Step 7: Time to wash! When I wash these, I wash with 1 dark towel I find that they wash and dry better with a large heavy towel. I was on cold with a normal amount of detergent. Dry on low too.

Now it's time to enjoy your tea towels! I use mine all year long.

2022 Valentines 3 Tiered Tray // Come craft with me!

While getting all my Valentine Rae Dunn mugs out, I have realized that I have just as many Valentines mugs as I do Christmas mugs 😳. I do have a few doubles that I need to get rid of too. I love Valentines Day since it's all lovey dovey and a small token of candy makes the kids happy. Thats a win in my book! I found these really great cards this year from Home Goods and they were so cute and cheap! Also a win in my book!
As you know, I love to decorate my 3 tiered tray for each holiday. And Valentines is always so fun since it's the next holiday after Christmas. My daughter loves this set since it is so full of pinks!

Now let me show you how I styled my Valentines 3 tiered tray!

Top Shelf
From the left, I have a wooden Sweet Shop from a valentines block set from Target. Next is a red XOXO Rae Dunn mug. On top of the mug is a little wooden sign shaped as a rolling pin that I picked up from Hobby Lobby. Inside the mug is a few glitter hearts on sticks. Hanging from the mug is a metal/wood heart from Hobby Lobby. There are also red glitter hearts on the bottom of the shelf.

Middle Shelf
From the left I have a Wink Wink Rae Dunn Mug. Inside the mug are some glitter hearts along with a set of silicone spatulas. The red spatula is Rae Dunn and the white spatula is from Target. In the middle there is a wooden gum ball machine from the Wooden block set from Target. Next is a light pink Perfect Match Rae Dunn mug. Inside are some more glitter hearts. There are more glitter heart in the bottom of the shelf.

Bottom Shelf
From the left, we start with a light pink Soul Mate Rae Dunn mug. Inside the mug is a glitter heart and a Tye Dyed Tea Towel that I made for Valentines day. In the middle is a pink bowl that I picked up at Ikea a few years ago. Inside the bowl is a cookie set I received from an old friend, Kristie Anagnos. She set a cute little valentines pack.

February Club Couture- Take the long way home // Come chalk with me!

We want to ride our bicycles! February’s Club Couture Transfer is a reminder to enjoy the journey. With a vintage bicycle design, a dreamy bubble frame, and the sentiments “take the long way home” and “find joy in the journey”, this design will help you take the long way home. Your shipment this month also includes Berry, Lakeshore, and Ocean Mist Chalkology® Paste Singles.

Ready to start this months creation? Follow along!

Supplies Included

Club Couture Chalk Transfer® design: Take the Long Way Home

Chalkology® Paste Singles: Berry, Lakeshore, and Ocean Mist

Additional Supplies Needed

Surface: Aiden Style White Frame (9" × 12")

Chalkology® Paste: Bright White

Tools: Color Trays, Fuzzing Cloth, Mini Squeegee, Multi-Tool, Detail Tool

Color and Placement Suggestions

Berry: bicycle basket, line elements

Bright White: bicycle, “take the long way home”

Lakeshore: flowers, “find joy in the journey”

Ocean Mist: bubble frame

Follow these instructions to complete this project:

1. Remove your Transfer from its packaging and carefully peel off the Transfer Backer Sheet.

2. “Fuzz” the Transfer by gently pressing onto a Fuzzing Cloth and carefully pulling it upward. This will make the Transfer easier to remove from the surface after you’ve applied the paste.

3. Center the Take the Long Way Home Transfer on the surface, and smooth it out to ensure it has properly adhered and that there are no bubbles or wrinkles.

4. Knead your Chalkology Paste Singles. Cut open the corner of each packet and squeeze the desired amount of paste onto a Color Tray, using a new tray for each color.

5. With the curved edge of your Multi-Tool, thoroughly mix your jar of Bright White Chalkology Paste and scrape excess paste from the jar sides.

6. Use your tools to apply color over your Transfer (see “Color and Placement Suggestions”). Select your tool based on whichever size best fits the various elements you are chalking. Once the screen portions of the design are completely covered, use your tools to remove excess paste as evenly as possible; excess paste can be scraped back into the tray or jar. The more excess paste you remove, the better the result will be.

7. For best results, divide your project into sections and use the chalk-and-pull method. This allows you to work in smaller sections without having the paste dry in the screen, which would give you patchy results. Chalk the top section of the design and peel back only that portion of the Transfer to let the paste dry on the surface before continuing (use the Quick Dry Tool for a faster dry). To prevent any stretching in the Transfer, peel from the center or from both corners, instead of peeling diagonally.

8. Gently lay the Transfer back down over the chalked section. Ensure that the next section is fully adhered, and repeat these steps as you work your way down the Transfer.

9. Once your design is fully chalked and before the paste dries, remove your Transfer from the surface and immediately clean the Transfer with cool water (do not let it soak).

10. Dry the Transfer flat with the sticky side up. Once completely dry, reapply the Transfer Backer Sheet and store flat.

11. Display your latest creation and enjoy life’s journey!
