DIY Tye Dye Valentines Kitchen Tea Towels // Come craft with me!

Valentines Day is almost here and I needed some Valentines Towels. So I decided to make them! Who doesn't love a good craft? These are really easy to make and can be a great family craft.

Fun fact: According to Wikipedia, Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentineis celebrated annually on February 14. It originated as a Christian feast day honoring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine and, through later folk traditions, has become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.

Supplies needed:

-Tea Towels
-Dye in all the colors that you want to use
-Rubber bands
-Pyrex glass pans

Step 1: Get all your supplies together. I already had most of my supplies on hand, so all I had to buy was the tea towels.

Step 2: Put rubber bands around the tea towels. There are so many ways you can do this to create different designs. I did mine a few different ways.

Step 3: Wet you towels until the are soaked through. Ring out any excess water. You want them wet but not soaking.

Step 4: Time to Dye! I mixed my dyes into small bottles for easy use. Squirt the dye in all the spots that you want. You could have a pattern or make it random. Do it how ever you want! There is no wrong way to do this.

Step 5: Once you are done adding the dyes, cover and set aside. I normally let them sit for at least 12 hours.

Step 6: Time to rinse. I always rinse in cold water. I place a cookie cooling sheet in my sink so the tea towel doesn't sit directly in the sink. I didn't use gloves to rise, but if you are going to be moving with your hands, you might want to. I rise and turn over and rise more until there is no color rinsing from it any more. Remove the rubber band and set aside.

Step 7: Time to wash! When I wash these, I wash with 1 dark towel I find that they wash and dry better with a large heavy towel. I was on cold with a normal amount of detergent. Dry on low too.

Now it's time to enjoy your tea towels! I use mine all year long.

My 2021 Halloween 3 Tiered Tray // Come see what I use to create it! // Come Craft with me!

Halloween is one of my top 3 favorite holidays of the year. I search out for new and fun items to decorate the house with. And I always love creating and styling my Halloween 3 Tiered Tray every year. I have found a lot of great Rae Dunn Halloween mugs too, so I couldn't wait to use those.  Come see how I decorated my 3 Tiered Tray!

Top Tray

Starting from the left, I have the Sarah Sanderson Funko Pop that I bough from Amazon last year. Behind Sarah is a candy corn colored small brush tree that I got from Target this year. They came in a pack of 2. Then in front of the Tree is a Johanna Parker Pumpkin Salt Shaker. It comes in a set of 2 items and came from Marshalls. This was the 1st time finding anything Johanna Parker! I was so excited!! Behind the Pumpkin is my black BOO Rae Dunn Mug that I bought from Facebook Marketplace. Inside of the mug is a vintage candy corn that I bought years ago at the Lodi Street Faire. It's one of my favorite decorations for Halloween. The Halloween beaded garland starts of the top tray and the pumpkin is hanging from the handle of the BOO mug.

Middle Tray

Starting from the left, I have a Rae Dunn Halloween Mug. Inside of the mug is a Rae Dunn Spooky black spatula. Hanging from the spatula is a the Pumpkin Tag from my Etsy shop. In front of the Halloween mug is another Vintage candy corn. In the middle of the tray is a Mary Sanderson Funko Pop that I bought off of Amazon. On the right of Mary is my Purple Hocus Pocus Rae Dunn Mug. I bought it off of Facebook Marketplace. Hanging next to the Hocus Pocus mug is the October 31st Tag from my Etsy Shop.  The Halloween beaded garland lays across the front of the middle tray.

Bottom Tray

On the left, I have a Lime Green Toxic Rae Dunn mug that I bought from Facebook Marketplace. Inside is a Velvet orange pumpkin that I bought from the Target Dollar Spot. In front of the Toxic mug is another vintage candy corn. It is the last of the set of 3. In the middle is the leader of the pack, Winifred Sanderson, who is flying on her brookstick. To the right of Winifred is another candy corn colored brush tree. I bought these in a set of 2 at Target. A little behind the tree is a Fright Night Rae Dunn mug that I bought at Home Goods. Inside the Fright Night mug is a Trick or Treat orange Rae Dunn Spatula. It's kind of hidden. Handing off that spatula is a Boo Tag from my Etsy Shop. We finish off the bottom tray with the end of the Halloween Beaded Garland.

On the left of the 3 Tiered Tray

Closest to the 3 tiered tray is a Happy Halloween Pumpkin Orange Rae Dunn candle. Sitting inside of the candle is the Halloween Owl pepper shaker from Johanna Parker. This was in a set that I got from Marshalls. To the left of that is a DIY Pumpkin Cook Book Stand that I made using Chalk Couture items! It's one of my favorites that I have made. In front is a Eat Up Witches Rae Dunn Tray that I found at Home Goods. I feel that it fits well with the Hocus Pocus Witches.

Check out my Ocean Mantle // Before it gets changed out for 4th of July!

I really enjoy creating and changing my mantle for each season and holiday. But the normal everyday mantel is always ocean themed. I love finding things to add to it. This collection just seems to grow over the years, so I when I revert back to a non-holiday, I can change it up every time put it back up.

Starting from the left is my Octopus Chalk Art that I created a few weeks ago. I created this all with Chalk Couture Transfers and Chalk Paste. Check out the Blog post HERE!

Next on the mantle is a starfish that I have had a really long time. I've used it in all of our house in some way.

Moving to the next item is made with all Chalk Couture items. But the best part of this Chalk Paste is that it is a custom color. Can you guess how I made it? The Chalk Paste used was all the left over chalk paste mixed together from the Octopus Chalk Art. So the match perfect!

Then I added in the giant upper case wooden B that I found at Marshalls.

In the middle of the mantle is this Beach sign that I made from Scrap wood and Chalk Couture a transfer and Chalk Paste. This was a great easy DIY project that I made in minutes.... yes minutes! I love projects like these!

On the other side is another Star Fish that I have has forever as well. Can't ever have enough starfish!

This large teal vintage looking whale is one of my favorite items that I own. I purchased it a few years ago. This whale is so heavy and fully made from wood. I first saw this at Marshalls but didn't want to pay the $25 price tag. I thought about this whale all the time. And when I went back to finally get it, it was gone! I was so upset that I missed out. Since Marshalls doesn't carry the same stock, I thought "that's it. I missed my opportunity. They a week to two later, while strolling through the aisles, there is was! My Whale!  I put that whale in my cart and she is all mine.

Next to my whale is 2 vintage looking wooden buoys. I've has these for years and years and these are also a favorite of mine! I think I bought these at Home Goods.  These are also ready heavy and made completely out of wood.

On the Left side bottom start with my Vintage looking wooded buoys with hooks. I bought these on clearance at Hobby Lobby.

Right under is my rope buoy ball. I don't remember where I got this but I have also have had it for a while. My husband questioned me on this purchase.... I just laughed and told him it's party of the ocean decor.

Next to that is the Vintage looking wooden painted blue anchor. I have had this for a long time and I'm not even sure where I got it.

On the right side of my fireplace, I have this vintage bell. Im not sure if it even has anything to do with the ocean but once I saw it I fell in love. It has a very soft bell sound when swung around. I actually found this at a resort in my home town called Wine & Roses. I actually used to work there in the Spa as a Nail Technician. Wine & Roses has this amazing gift shop in the Spa called The Nest. It has great finds. While at the Spa one day for a massage, I saw this bell. I was there for quite a while, and then on one of my birthdays, my Mom surprised me and got it for me!

Next to the bell is a small sign that I made. This was a fun easy- Sunshine is Favorite Color! Is was a quick 5 minute project - Click HERE to read the blog post!
Here's a video on how I made it:

The last item is this octopus wall art. We have had this since the Jackson street house. I bought it at Target 4-5 years ago.

What is your favorite part of my Mantle?                 Drop me a comment and let me know!
